    DLF Trifolium and Johnsons Sports Seed launched a competition at this year’s BTME in celebration of their new 4Turf Tetraploid ryegrass cultivars being selected for use at all of the Brazil World Cup stadia and training grounds. One lucky customer, Paul Brazier at Kilworth Springs Golf Club, was the winner of the latest generation iPad air.

    Bristol Rovers Football Club may be on the verge of building a new stadium but the existing one has benefited greatly from the work of Head Groundsman, Eric Kingscott. After a poor showing from the seed sown in 2012 Eric commenced a search for the best seed for his venue, and Johnsons Sports Seed J Premier Pitch and J Rescue came up trumps.

    DLF hosts horticulture students from Hillsborough College

    Students from Hillsborough College, a campus of Sheffield College, recently paid a visit to the UK’s largest and fastest growing grass seed producer DLF Trifolium. The students are all enrolled on the Horticulture Apprenticeship Level 3 course which is designed to develop knowledge, as well as the practical and technical skills, for a career in the horticulture industry.

    Rotherham United Football Club - The Millers - were promoted lastseason from League Two and pushing for promotion to the Championship this year. Currently 5th in League One, they moved into a new £20m, 12,000 capacity, all seater stadium in July 2012. Dave Fellowes, Playing Facilities Manager has been at the club for 2 and a half years. Through previous stadium development projects as Head Groundsman at Fulham Football Club he was ready to take his role in the construction of the new stadium.

    Groundsman of the year for Peter Ashworth at Preston North End

    The Football League Groundsman of the Year (League 1), Peter Ashworth, is Head Groundsman at Preston North End Football Club. Peter attributes his success to the team effort involved to get the desired playing surface. He believes it is not just his role as Head Groundsman, but also the choice of the best grass seed; the correct feeding regime and most of all, the people at the ground to keep everything in good condition.
